More Than $523 Million Was Withdrawn from Ethereum ETFs Over Five Trading Days

U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs recorded net outflows totaling approximately $523.5 million over the past five trading sessions, according to data from Farside Investors.

Outflows totaled $37.4 million on October 2, $50.8 million on October 5, $201.9 million on October 6, $160.9 million on October 7, and another $72.5 million on October 8. Thus, the funds faced particularly heavy pressure on October 6–7, when investors withdrew a combined total of more than $360 million.

This series of negative outflows has been ongoing for several trading days and coincided with a noticeable decline in Ethereum. On October 9, ETH was trading around $2,490, having lost more than 3% over the past 24 hours.

At the same time, the Ethereum market has underperformed Bitcoin in recent days. Over the past 24 hours, the volume of ETH position liquidations totaled about $356 million, while Bitcoin’s was about $298 million, despite Ethereum’s significantly smaller market capitalization. In total, approximately $1.19 billion worth of positions were liquidated in the cryptocurrency market, of which more than $1 billion were long positions.

After falling to around $80,400, Bitcoin subsequently recovered to the $82,000 range, while Ethereum remained around $2,500.

The decline in ETH was accompanied by an overall reduction in demand for risky assets amid expectations of further tightening of U.S. monetary policy, rising bond yields, and increased geopolitical uncertainty.

Despite the current outflow, U.S. Ethereum ETFs have maintained significant cumulative net inflows since their launch. According to Farside Investors, these inflows total approximately $13.3 billion.
