Kyiv’s benchmark equity index got hammered again on Thursday, while most other global bourses were little changed as investors weighed earnings reports. The UX sank 3.5% yesterday, the most among EMEA indices tracked by Bloomberg. All ten local blue chips were in the red, led by Raiffeisen Bank Aval (BAVL UK)’s 7.3% decline after releasing another poor quarterly financial report. In Warsaw, the WIG-Ukraine index rose 0.3% over the session. Sadovaya Group (SGR PW) was the best performer of the bunch, adding 10.7%, continuing its resurgence after a two-session 48.3% drop earlier this week. In London, the balance of shares closed on the downside, including Cadogan Petroleum (CAD LN) -1.6%, Regal Petroleum (RPT LN) -1.5% and MHP (MHPC LI) -1.0%. We see another lower open for Ukrainian equities this morning as the global backdrop is negative and a high degree of uncertainty will cloud sentiment ahead of Sunday’s key parliamentary election.
