Ukrainian equities capped off a losing week in Warsaw on the downswing on Friday, Aug. 7. The WIG Ukraine Index of Warsaw-traded stocks fell 1.2%, finishing the week at a 2.1% slide. The losses were led by sugar maker Astarta (AST PW), which declined 1.6% on Friday, or 4.6% for the week. Natural gas E&P Serinus Energy (SEN PW) finished the week on the upswing at 2.5%, capping its weekly loss at 5.1%. In London, iron ore miner and pellet maker Ferrexpo (FXPO LN) rose 1.2%, or 10.8% in three straight positive sessions. The Ukrainian Exchange (UX) Index of Kyiv-traded stocks decreased 0.1%, concluding the week at a 1.2% loss.

Ukrainian government Eurobonds (UKRAIN) endured one of their weakest weeks this year, ahead of a Wednesday meeting that should be decisive for the bonds’ restructuring. Worst performing were notes maturing in Apr.’23 (falling 1.3%, or 4.8% for the week) and Jun’16 (falling 1.5%, or 4.4% for the week). The Ukrainian currency finished the week having slightly appreciated to UAH 21.48/USD from UAH 21.61/USD the week before.
