The WIG Ukraine Index of Warsaw-traded stocks continued their downturn on Friday, March 27, slipping 0.9% and ending the week down 6.5%. Its biggest component, grain trader and sunflower oil maker Kernel (KER PW), was down 0.9%. Illiquid shares of car battery maker WESTA plummeted 11.1% ending the week down 21.1%. Dairy firm Milkiland (MLK PW) dropped 7.7% giving it a fall of 20.6% on the week. The one bright spot was coal miner Sadovaya Group (SGR PW) gaining 6.3%. Outside the index, natural gas E&P Serinus Energy (SEN PW) was down 1.3%, concluding the week at a 5.3% gain. In London, the most actively traded Ukrainian stock, iron ore miner Ferrexpo (FXPO LN) was up 2.9% finishing the week at an 8.4% gain. Avangardco (AVGR LI) was up 3.0% gaining 8.1% on the week. Regal Petroleum (RPT LN) fell 5.6% still finished the week with a 4.2% gain. The Ukrainian Exchange (UX) Index of Kyiv-traded stocks decreased 1.9%, finishing the week at a 4.2% loss. Some of the big losers were Alchevsk Iron & Steel (ALMK UK -5.4%), railway machinery Kryukiv Railcar (KVBZ UK -5.3%), and the aerospace firm Motor Sich (MSICH UK -5.1%). The one gainer of the day was Raiffeisen Bank Aval (BAVL UK 2.5%), yet it still closed the week down 6.6%.
