IMF approves US$17bn 4-year program

The IMF approved the new four-year US$17bn financial assistance program yesterday. Donors are expected to contribute alongside private lenders involved in the Eurobond debt restructuring. With restructuring negotiations underway this week, total funding from all sources could be as high as UD$40bn over the next four years. The first tranche of US$4-5bn of US$10bn this year from the IMF should be released soon. Despite this positive news, Ukrainian authorities are expected to be conservative and maintain tight administrative measures until this summer to prevent a flight of capital.
