UAH at new low as NBU scraps new regulation

Only a few hours after implementing the new regulation adopted prior to the opening of Wednesday's trading session, the regulation was canceled immediately following, high level official talks between President Poroshenko, PM Yatsenyuk, NBU Governor Gontareva and Speaker of the Parliament Hroisman. The FX hryvnia rate fell to a new low of 33.7500/USD yesterday. Later in the day, the NBU issued a statement saying it would sell FX that it had purchased earlier in the day. The hryvnia's real trade-weighted value dropped 22.69% from the previous day and 49.77% year-to-date. By this measure, the hryvnia appears highly undervalued.
