Ukrainian equities – both in Kyiv and Warsaw – were down for the week ended Jan. 11. The Ukrainian Exchange (UX) Index fell 1.5% on Friday and 3.0% for the week. The session’s biggest decliners were Avdiivka Coke (AVDK UK -3.9%), which tumbled 8.0% for the week, and power generator Centerenergo (CEEN UK -2.4%), which was down 7.8% for the week. In Warsaw, the WIG-Ukraine Index inched up 0.1%, finishing the week at a 1.8% loss. Milkiland (MLK PW +3.0%) improved 4.7% for the week while shares of mining company Sadovaya Group (SGR PW +13.6%) gained 19.7% for the week on speculation in Warsaw that it will begin to export coal to Russia. In London, mining firm Ferrexpo (FXPO LN) lost 2.7% in the Friday session. Traders scooped up shares of Regal Petroleum (RPT LN +11%) after a sell-off that left it 6.3% in the red for the week.
