The big story among Ukrainian equities on Monday, Aug. 31 was sugar maker Astarta (AST PW), which plunged 9.8%. It finished the month at a 16.5% loss. The WIG Ukraine Index of Warsaw-traded stocks declined 3.9% on Monday, concluding the month at a 9.6% drop. Its biggest component, grain trader and sunflower oil maker Kernel (KER PW), inched up 0.5%, extending its win streak to three sessions at an 11.5% gain. It finished the month at a 4.7% loss. Outside the index, natural gas E&P Serinus Energy (SEN PW) declined 5.3%, concluding the month at a 18.4% loss. The Ukrainian Exchange Index of Kyiv-traded stocks slid 0.1%, finishing the month at a 0.4% gain. The London Stock Exchange was closed for a bank holiday. The most actively traded Ukrainian stock, iron ore miner and pellet maker Ferrexpo (FXPO LN), concluded the month at a 6.9% improvement.
