Ukrainian equities capped off a positive week on the upswing on Friday, May 23. The WIG Ukraine Index of Warsaw-traded stocks rose 1.4%, finishing the week at a 1.5% gain. Its biggest component, grain trader and sunflower oil producer Kernel (KER PW +1.1%), concluded the week at a 1.2% gain. Friday’s biggest advancer was farmer Industrial Milk (IMC PW +3.4%), which finished the week at a 7.7% improvement. Outside the Index, Serinus Energy (SEN PW -4.3%) concluded the week at a 0.9% decline. In London, the most widely traded Ukrainian stock, iron ore miner Ferrexpo (FXPO LN +0.1%) finished the week at a 3.3% drop. The Ukrainian Exchange (UX) Index of Kyiv-traded stocks has surged 11.7% in eight straight winning sessions to its highest level since May 2012. Among its leaders has been engine maker Motor Sich (MSICH UK +3.2%), which has surged 19.0% in eight straight positive sessions. Power generator Centrenergo (CEEN UK +5.2%) has advanced 13.1% in five straight winning sessions.
