UAH grossly down in nominal and trade-weighted terms

The hryvnia closed at 23.40/USD, staying flat to previous day and following a normal trading volume session. Its trade-weighted value declined by a sizable daily margin of 0.88%. This was the result of the 2.55% appreciation of the Russian ruble that followed the currency's eight-month long undervaluation streak, the longest since the early 2000s. The hryvnia's lower trade-weighted value allays market players who advocated for a lower market FX rate of UAH.
