Banking sector liquidity declined UAH0.99bn to UAH102.55bn yesterday as there was a significant reallocation of funds to banks' accounts. Total CDs outstanding fell UAH5.84bn to UAH62.33bn while banks' correspondent accounts with the NBU rose UAH4.85bn to UAH40.23bn.

Investment implications: This decline and reallocation should be short-lived as today's new 30-day CD tender at very attractive interest rates should attract significant demand. Liquidity outflows could be the result of UAH/USD exchange rate movements and attempts to purchase FX at a more attractive exchange rate. In a few days, liquidity should increase and allocate to CDs.
