The Friday, Dec. 14 session summed up what Ukrainian stocks did during the week – losing on the Kyiv exchange but gaining in Warsaw. The Ukrainian Exchange (UX) Index fell 1.5% (for the week-0.3%), weighed down by shares of Avdiivka Coke (AVDK UK -2.8%), Yenakiieve Steel (ENMZ UK -2.5%) and Donbasenergo (DOEN UK -2.5%), which lost 5.1% for the week. Ukrnafta (UNAF UK -0.5%) plunged deeper into its three-year low, losing 7.5% for the week after its release of poor production figures. In Warsaw, the WIG-Ukraine Index inched up 0.1% (for the week +2.6%), led by shares of miner Sadovaya Group (SGR PW +6.0%), which reported on Dec. 14 higher-than-expected coal sales. SGR gained 17.8% for the week. In London, Regal Petroleum (RPT LN) stock surged 24.1% after Russia’s Alfa Group announced its plans to acquire a 28.6% stake. The surge capped off a 19.8% gain for the week. On the other hand, traders dumped Cadogan Petroleum (CAD LN -3.5%), which plunged deeper into its three-year low after losing 6.8% for the week.
