Liquidity reallocation to CDs

Banking sector liquidity was reallocated from banks' accounts to CDs, falling UAH0.10bn to UAH96.75bn yesterday. Banks' correspondent accounts with the NBU declined UAH1.50bn to UAH38.32bn while total CDs outstanding rose UAH1.40bn to UAH58.43bn yesterday.

Investment implications: The minor decline in liquidity was possibly caused by outflows via the FX market or other payments, which had a low impact on liquidity. Generally, liquidity should recover soon and be reallocated to CDs, but next week we could see liquidity reallocated back to banks' accounts for month-end tax payments.
