The Ukrainian government has placed a 5Y Eurobond issued under a U.S. guarantee, Debtwire reported on May 27, citing its own sources. The coupon rate on the bond is 1.847%, according to the source. The respective guarantee agreement was signed last week, which enabled placing the bond according to the government’s schedule by the end of May.

This was the second issue of a U.S.-guaranteed bond after a similar USD 1 bln placement was made in May 2014. Another placement of USD 1 bln in guaranteed bonds may happen in 2H15, as mentioned in Ukraine’s staff agreement with the IMF. The guarantees are part of a USD 16.3 bln financial support package to Ukraine for 2015, of which USD 10 bln is committed by the IMF. Thus far, Ukraine has received about USD 6.1 bln of the planned support, we estimate, and it may receive USD 1.67 bln from the IMF and EUR 0.6 bln from the EU in June.
